While technically not a military force, Kitazr does employ teams of highly-trained covert operators. Kitazr operations teams (informally called “Blades”) engage in surveillance, sabotage, assassination, and carefully-planned mayhem.
Operations Team
- Team Leader (usually also a pilot)
- Medic
- Cyber Warfare Specialist
- Demolitions Expert
- Sniper
A core principle of team composition is redundancy. Although certain team members are experts in cyber warfare, demolitions, and sniping, all Kitazr special operators are proficient in weaponry (especially long-range marksmanship), reconnaissance and surveillance, field medicine, cyber intrusion (defeating locks and hacking vehicles), and demolitions. An operations team always has two members capable of piloting a variety of lift-off and re-entry (LORE) equipment, especially the HASP-R and Mule medium transport shuttle. Thus, an operations team is more able to complete its objectives even if a single team member is wounded or killed.
Support Team
- Comms officer (commands the ship while the operations team is planetside)
- Navigation officer/pilot
- Medical officer
- Engineer
- Assistant engineer
- Quartermaster
An operations team and their support staff typically operate from a Mongoose-class Corvette. The requisition of the Mongoose ship class caused a major stir among senior Service leadership. The Mongoose is 25% smaller than the Wolverine-class Assault Corvette but its complement is less than one-tenth of the Wolverine. (Mongooses can be configured to operate with up to three operations teams aboard–though seldom do–but even then accommodations are “roomy” by Service standards.) In a typical tit-for-tat move, the Service also requisitioned sixteen Mongooses for use by special forces detachments.
